teaching

"I believe in the value of private lessons.  They present an opportunity for a student to grow musically that perhaps can not be experienced in a larger ensemble setting.  The more personal and attentive environment helps create a foundation on which the student can continue to grow throughout their life.  From day one, concepts of rhythm, intonation, tone quality, phrasing and basic music theory will be covered.  Specific focus on technical facility, articulation, musicality in performance, instrument tendencies, reed maintenance and adjustment, sight-reading, repertoire and critical listening will be addressed as the student's saxophone abilities and musical interests are diagnosed and identified.  In addition to simply learning and exploring the saxophone, other skills will also be taught and instilled, including effective time management, goal setting, discipline and effective performance practices."
